Mr. and Mrs. Dave Peek returned home to Gouverneur, New York, Saturday after a week's visit with her parents, Jim and Karan Newsome, and her grandmother, Jenelle Newsome. They all spent some time with Jamie, Charlene, and Anna Newsome in Martinez last week. .We had a good service at Ebenezer Baptist Church Sunday. The children's story was "Running to Meet Him." Our adult sermon was "Jesus Is Lord and Savior," taken from Philippians 2:5-11.On Wednesday there will be a choir practice at 6:30 at the church. The deacons will meet at 7:30; and the ladies will have WMU at 7:30. On Thursday, March 20, there will be a Maundy Thursday service with observance of The Lord's Supper. The sunrise service will be at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, followed by breakfast at 8:20. Our regular 9:45 Sunday School and 11:00 a.m. worship service will follow. Roy visited Gabe Strother Sunday. .We are sorry to learn of Elizabeth B. Dunnaway's fall Saturday. She fell at Mrs. Lucille Ingram's doorway and broke her ankle in three places. We hope she will be well soon. .Mr. and Mrs. Jamie Newsome and Anna of Martinez visited Jim and Karan Newsome and Jenelle Newsome last week. .Linda Standard spent Thursday evening with her grandson, Peyton Standard, in Lexington, S.C. On Friday, Peyton accompanied Linda to Washington where he spent the weekend. His mother was out-oftown. Peyton returned home late Sunday. His maternal grandmother, Laura Houpt, carried him home. .The members of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church had dinner after church Sunday. .Alex Dunnaway visited Louise Burt, Keith and Linda Standard, Sarah Huff, Tommy Dunnaway, and Billy Dunnaway last week. Tommy and Billy are not feeling well, so we hope they will soon be better. . Aubrey Walker and two girl friends, all from Athens, visited Linda and Keith Standard and Sarah Huff Wednesday. Aubrye returned Sunday for a visit en route to Ft. Gordon to see friends. Daniel Standard of Rayle and Bobby Ansley Jr. also visited the Standards. .I enjoyed seeing Mrs. Vera Williamson (Lois Nunn's sister) in North Augusta Friday. .Happy birthday to all who are celebrating a birthday this week. My brother-in-law, Richard Goff, has one on the 20th and my brother, Garnett Wallace, has one on the 22nd. My sister-in-law, Marilyn Newsome, celebrated one on March 18. .I visited my friends, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Dragon, in Martinez Friday. .Stephanie Haynes, Chip and Skyla spent Friday and Saturday nights with Richard and Brenda Phillips.
.Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Dunnaway's supper guests Sunday evening were Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Holt, Mallory and Kinsley of Martinez, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Holt, Devin and Austin. . Russell Goldman of Doraville spent Sunday with his mother, Mrs. Sarah Huff. .Alex Dunaway visited Linda and Keith Standard, Sarah Huff, Mrs. Louise Burt, Tommy Dunnaway, and Billy Dunnaway during the week. .Mr. and Mrs. Richard Phillips visited Mr. and Mrs. Frank Phillips in Soperton Thursday. Mrs. Phillips has been ill.
