The Phillips Mill Baptist Church Choir presented an Easter cantata a week early this year. All those who attended morning worship service Sunday, March 16, were blessed to hear the presentation, "Glory In the Cross," featuring a Christ Is Risen medley, "Christ the Lord Is Risen Today." "Crown Him with Many Crowns," "For What Earthly Reason," "I Will Glory In the Cross," "The Offer Still Stands," "Alive Medley, He's Alive, Alive, Alive, Christ Arose." .Who knows.This could be a good kick-off for Easter as we will have an Easter egg hunt this Saturday morning, March 22, at Phillips Mill, 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Easter Sunday there will be a Sonrise service at 8:30 a.m. followed by our Easter breakfast. Sunday School is at 10 a.m., the Easter service, 11 a.m. with the children's choir singing. There will be no evening service. Please contact Charlotte Waller if you would like to help or for more information. .On the fifth Sunday, March 30, The Lord's Supper will be observed following the morning service. Sunday night there will be a singing and worship. .Sincere sympathy is extended to the family of Freddie Goldman, 75, of Thomson who passed away Tuesday, March 11. Graveside services were held Friday, March 14, in Thomson City Cemetery. He was the husband of the former Shirley West who grew up at Phillips Mill Baptist Church, a daughter of Mabel Chafin West and the late Dan West of Phillips Mill. Freddie grew up in Lincolnton. .Dan and Mildred McAvoy have a new great-grandson born Monday, March 3. He is the son of Mandy McAvoy Weath and her husband Thomas. The baby was named Jackey Thomas. He has a brother and two sisters. Mildred has been facing more surgery for cancer. Their children, Donnie and Claudia, and Jerry, carried her to Augusta last week for pre-op. The surgery was Monday evening, March 17. Your prayers will be greatly appreciated. .Geraldine (Mrs. Bobby) Lamar of Union Point, who recently underwent open heart surgery in Athens, is home and doing as well as she can. Bobby's mother, Helen Stevens Lamar, visited them Sunday. Prayers are appreciated. .Remember. God loves you.
