Storms were in the news again Saturday and storms raced across Georgia with Rayle being mentioned once again on TV as in the watch and warning area. It seems like we have better coverage and warnings from all the TV channels now detailing the areas and letting us know what to do and where the storms are. Trey Berry was home from UGA and got a call from the emergency system of UGA saying the storm is over Athens and take cover. His parents, Lamar and Kay Berry, also got the call because of Trey being a student there. . More excitement on Sunday evening when a small plane crash landed near AAA Log Homes Corp. The pilot, Allen Bunch, was not injured, but a small inconvenience as electricity was off for about two hours. I am glad no one was hurt. .A large crowd was in attendance at Sardis Baptist Church Sunday morning with a wonderful message by pastor Jim Newsome. Pam Hall led in the congregational singing with Rebecca Echols as pianist. All the children gathered at the altar with Rev. Newsome for a short message. Afterwards they went down to the annex with Trey Berry for children's church. Prayer meeting is held every Wednesday evening at 6:30 at the Echols Home. .An Easter egg hunt was enjoyed by the children at Sardis Baptist Church Saturday morning with a good many children attending. All the children were excited and found lots of eggs of all kinds. A party was also given in the annex. The adults also enjoyed the fun. .Several members of Sardis Baptist Church attended the Easter musical and drama, "Once Upon a Tree," Sunday evening at the First Baptist Church in Washington. Our pastor, Jim Newsome, was a soloist in the musical. Attending from Sardis other than Jim and Karan Newsome were Peggy Echols, Bonnie Boatwright, Wesley Echols, and Rebecca Echols. It was a very good and touching program. It was good to see and be with the people at First Baptist. .Trey Berry enjoyed spring holidays at home from UGA last week. I went to visit Friday and he and his Maw Maw took a walk over the pastures and down by the old homeplace where there are many buttercups, wedding bells, and daffodils blooming. His mother, Kay, joined us after a while and we had a nice stroll. .Our hearts go out to the family of Teresa Davis who passed away at Emory University Hospital after a short illness of a few days. The Davis family was close friends of ours for many years and Johnny and Kay spent many hours at their house as children. Teresa was well-liked by everyone ho knew her. She will be greatly missed by many people. Her family has our deepest heartfelt sympathy. . Please remember all the sick and bereaved in prayer. Johnson, JImmy Co mpton, Don Wheatley, Samantha Abrams, Doug Eberhart, Ellie Frey, G.B. and Sherry Newsome. . Bonnie Boatwright spent last Tuesday with her sister, Martha Jones, in Bogart. They joined their other sister, Frankie Jones of Athens, and brother and his wife, James and Sharon Smith of Stephens, at Chiles in Athens for a wonderful lunch. .Peggy Echols and Bonnie Boatwright attended church at Mallorysville Baptist Church Sunday morning whre they enjoyed a wonderful service and message by the pastor, Donnie Berry. Betty Berry and Sybil Vaughn also attended the service. A covered dish meal was enjoyed in the fellowship hall honoring Doris Smathers who will be leaving for her new home in Waynesville, North Caroliina, this week. Along with the Mallorysville Church people, nine members of the Rayle Lunch and Learn of which Doris was a member were there for the dinner including Doris, Peggy Echols, Bonnie Boatwright, Betty Berr7y, Sybil Vaughn, Ann Williamson, Sudie Kennedy, Millie Mansfield,and Fran Thaxton. Marian Mansfieldand Tommy Thaxton also attended. We enjoyed the wonderful fellowship and delicious meal at Mallorysville. .David Wideman, James Wideman, and Mathew visited George and ann Wideman during the weekend. They attended the Sunday morning service at Mallorysville Baptist Church and dinner afterwards. .Deena Boatwright was honored with a nice miscellaneous bridal shower in the annex of Sardis Baptist Church Sunday afternoon. She received many nice and useful gifts. She was presented a beautiful corsage by the WMU to compliment her outfit..J.W. and Bonnie Boatwright joined Bill Gamble and Rachel Gamble of Augusta for dinner at Miss Jane's Restaurant in Warrenton Wednesday of last week. .Randy and Deena Boatwright have moved to Washington from Sardis Road. We will miss them in our little community. .Ruby Arnold was under the weather for the past few days. Her sister, Faye Johnson, was here from Gray taking care of her. .Zachery Frankel spent Wednesday and Thursday with Clyde and Sandy Whittington while recuperating from a virus. There's no better medicine for a little boy than Grandpa and Grandma's love and caring. Fred Weidner of Lexington spent Friday and Saturday with Clyde and Sandy. Kim Frankel, Zachery, Kyle, and Bryce, had Sunday dinner with them while Neil was at work. . Bradley Parker had a birthday Tuesday and was six years old. He was treated with cake and ice cream by his parents, Lee and Shelley Parker. Celebrating with him were Lee and Shelley, Betty Berry, Sybil Vaughn, Donnie and Kris Berry, Tom and Sandra Parker, Josh and Samantha Parker, Christy White, Andrew and Lita.
.Raeleigh Armour had a birthday and was seven years old. A dinner in her honor at the home of her grandparents, Bobby and Debra Armour, was enjoyed by Raeleigh, Bobby and Debra, Chris and Heather Armour, Amber and Rebecca, Frances Fendley, Joan Perez, and Richard Burkett. .Dorothy Callaway was treated to a dinner for her birthday by Ruby Booth Sunday with several family members attending. .Jordan Welborn had a birthday and was four years old and was given a party at the home of her grandmother, Nell Hubbard. .Kim Berry and Aaliya, Ruby Booth and Dorothy Callaway went to Commerce to visit Robert and Crystal Byron Saturday. .County Line Baptist Church Choir will present an Easter musical titled "Guilty By Love" Sunday morning, March 23 (Easter), at 11:00.
