Breckyn Hudson wins Talent Showcase, will represent Washington at state level

Breckyn Hudson stole the show with her dance to "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" at the 26th Annual Kiwanis Talent Showcase held last Friday at Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School. She will now advance to represent Washington- Wilkes in the state Talent Showcase to be held later this spring.

A total of 16 acts were featured during the talent show including singers, dancers, actors, and instrumentalists. A panel of three judges determined the winners in each age division.

Art Showcase entries were judged prior to the Talent Showcase and winners were announced at the beginning of the show.

The Washington Kiwanis Club will use the proceeds to support its local youth and civic projects.

Winners in Grades 6-8 were (l-r) Leslie Souther, first; Jordan Echols, second; Jesse Echold, third (tie); and Kelsey Brooke, third (tie).
Art Showcase winers included: Grades K-2 - Lykah Mora, first place; Erin McAvoy, second place; Samantha Wheatley, third place. Grades 3-5 - Andrea Hill, first; Elexus Campbell, second; Molly Barrow, third. Grades 6-8 - Jordan Echols, first; Paige McAvoy, second; Whitney Branham, third. Grades 9-12 - Alexandra Birdwell, first; Megan Churning, second; and Whitley Hodges, third.
