Rainy Highway 78 claims another vehicle
Just a week after woman was seriously injured in a wreck caused by standing water on, Mary Williams, 66, of Washington hit the same patch of water a week ago Friday afternoon, losing control of her 2003 Dodge pickup and crashing into a tree. She was transported to Wills Memorial Hospital for treatment. In the accident the week before, Rescue 1's new Jaws of Life were put into service for the first time to cut an injured victim out of her crushed SUV at nearly the same dangerous spot on the Athens Highway between the Washington-Wilkes Airport and Celeste.
