An Act of God
By GARY TOOLE
An insurance company would not pay off because they called it an act of God and so this fellow sued God. He sued the church. Oh well, they've sued everyone else, why not God too?

One lady was dancing in the spirit in the church and she stumbled, fell, and broke her leg. So, she sued that church. Sue, sue, sue! That's what the devil wants us to do. The Word tells us to work things out among ourselves. Not many do that any more.

The world has become so crooked and some folks have to screw their britches on. The teacher asked the little boy if the earth was round or flatand he said, "Neither." She said, "Well, Johnny, why's that?" He said, "My father said that it's crooked!"

Anyway, this act of God thing is just another way of blaming Him for anything bad. If it's bad, then blame God. Right? Wrong! That's

like blaming a man who has been dead for 50 years who invented a machine and some nut screwed it up and made it malfunction. That's a pretty good example,

except God is

still alive and well, yet He allows folks to run amok and then blame Him.

We know that God has all power, but there are also other forces at work that can wreak havoc and cause chaos. God allows so much. That's just His way, but He also intervenes. It tells us in II Chronicles 7:14, "If my people, who are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

Now, here He is speaking to backslidden Christians. Yes, that's right. You heard it here. Christians who have backed up and gone back on God. This act of God thing is just man's way of referring to nature. Natural disasters. Natural causes and some insurance on a broader scale pay off no matter what, but then I guess some do use it as a loophole. We gotta blame somebody. Why not God?

But let me tell you, "It was not in God's original plan. All this sin, sorrow and devastation, you can't blame Him. Mankind, sin, and satan are to blame.

All this bad weather, we know now is being brought on by what we are doing to the atmosphere. So, the next time I hear "That's just an act of God," I will say, "Oh, no. Because God doesn't act that way!" Can you say amen.
