Baseball team posts big wins; passing students have a party

On Tuesday, March 18, the Washington-Wilkes Middle School Tiger baseball team played Hancock Central in Sparta 4:30. The team won by the score of 40-0 after two innings. Two homeruns were hit that game by Tabor Jackson and Brandon Dill. Trey McAvoy hit an inside-the-park grand slam. Congratulations players!

On Thursday, March 20, the Tigers played another away game against Louisville at 4:30. They won again by the score of 24-4. On Saturday, March 22, the team played against Elbert County at 4:30. They won by the score of 4-3. Their season is now 8-1 (eight wins and one loss). Way to go Tigers!

On Tuesday, March 18, middle school students who passed reading and both of their connections received a pass party. They were given popsicles and footballs and baseballs to play with. The students had a good time.

On Friday, March 21, the Wilkes County school system had a professional learning day. Students and teachers alike enjoyed a long weekend.

Yearbooks are on sale in Mrs. Pickens' room. They cost $26.00 or you can deposit two installments of $13.00. They will be distributed on May 1, and there are only 30 yearbooks left, so get them while you can!

This year, nine colorguard members were selected for the Tiger Marching Band. Three middle school students were selected as well. They are Aliyah Allen, Krystal Nash, and Kayla Selman. Congratulations students and good luck!
