What a wonderful day! Easter. Christ arose. He is alive. It was evident at Sardis Baptist Church Sunday morning. The congregational singing was led by Joyce Fry as Pam Hall played the piano and the ladies ensemble sang "Never a Man Like Him." After the children's message was given at the altar by Pastor Jim Newsome the children went downstairs to the annex with Denise Armour and Jackson Armour for children's church. Pastor Newsome delivered a wonderful message, "Easter Preparation for Eternity" from Matthew 28:1-7. The Sardis Church prayer meeting is held every Wednesday evening at the Echols Home at 6:30 p.m. Pastor Newsome and members of Sardis Baptist Church invite everyone to this and Sunday School at 10 a.m. and worship service at 11 a.m. every Sunday morning and the Sunday evening service at 7 p.m. .Everyone was glad to see Josephine Orr, Steve and Marie Orr Tyler, Melissa and Andrew, Kate Orr Messner, Clint and Diane Gunnoe, Courtney Gunnoe and Isabel, Jessica Walker and Alex Walker, Sherri Standard, and other visitors present at Sardis Sunday morning. The beautiful Easter flower arrangement on the communion table was placed by Grady and Ruth Rogers especially for Easter in all its beauty and splendor. .Many people attended visitation at Hopkins Funeral Home for the family of Teresa Davis Tuesday night and the service at Washington-Wilkes Memorial Gardens Wednesday afternoon. It was evident that she was a wonderful person with many friends by the number of people and the many beautiful flowers that were sent. She will be greatly missed by all who k new her. Teresa was as giving in death as she was in life by being an organ donor to Life Link that four lives have already been saved and two more people may be able to see again because of her. .Clint and Diane Gunnoe, Courtney Gunnoe and Isabel spent the weekend with Clint Gunnoe Jr. Saturday they, along with Jason Echols, went to Juliette and dined at the Whistle Stop Cafe. They traveled on to Macon for a fun-filled day. .Debra (Bobby) Armour went to Crawford Friday to a meeting at Quiet Oaks where she works and Frances Fendley and Rebecca Armour accompanied her to visit Melvie Esco who is a resident there. .Danny and Monica Gunter, Courtney, Meredith, and Maddie had Easter Sunday dinner along with other family members with Jonnie and Peggie Walker. Pete Poss also had dinner with them. .A cookout and bonfiredown by the pond at the home of Jessie and Nancy Williamson was enjoyed by the Williamson family and many friends Friday night. On Easter Sunday a whole hog barbecue was enjoyed by the family and friends, Ann Williamson, Bob and Pat Preston, Jessie and Nancy Williamson, Amanda Williamson, Bob and Pat Preston, Albert and Karen Petit, Keith and Rebecca of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; David and Dawn Williamson, Debra and David Jr., and friend Corrine, Brett and Cris Alfonsin and Kyle of Acworth; Bob Preston Jr., Sean Preston, and Taylor Richeson of Millington; Alene and Champ, Alex Williamson, Sarah Williamson and Jonathon of Salley, S.C.; Roger and Mandy of Washington; Billy and Hollie Cartledge of Lincolnton; Sudie Kennedy, and many other friends. .Billy and Doris Walker enjoyed having their family with them for Easter, including Mike and Debra Sherrer, Lindsay and Whitney Sherrer, Whitney's friend Reese, Beatrice Sherrer, Becky Orr, Walker and Isabella of Lawrenceville; Clifton and Janet Lewis, Ashton and Heyden, and Dave and Judy Lewis of Athens. Visiting in the afternoon were Alex Walker, Jessica Walker, Courtney, Meredith and Maddie Gunter, Jessica and Mary Ellen Murphy. A fun-filled afternoon with an Easter egg hunt for the little ones was enjoyed by everyone. .Nina Boatwright went to Lincolnton and picked up Velma Crook and they went to Greenbrier School in Augusta to see the play, "Thoroughly Modern Millie," in which Velma's granddaughter, Anna Plue, participated. Joining them there were David and Nita Plue and Ann Wall. .Brent and Deana Sherrer hosted an Easter dinner Sunday for their family, including Mary Hawes, Marshall and Mablean Sherrer, Kevin and Jennifer Shelton, John and Dawn Howard and Jesse, and Steve and Sherrer Thornton and Alena. . Ruby Arnold and Kim Berry visited Lamar and Kay Berry, Trey, Brooke, Kaitlyn, and Bryson, Sunday afternoon. Aaliya was in Commerce with Ruby Booth, Kristy Booth and Dorothy Callaway to spent the day with Robert and Crystal Byron. .Thomas and Christine Wheatley, Mike Wheatley, and Talitha Hopkins went to their church, Rehoboth Baptist, for the Easter sunrise service and breakfast. The men of the church cooked the breakfast and everyone, especially the ladies, enjoyed it very much. Mike Wheatley taught the combined Sunday School class. Sunday afternoon they visited Stanley and Kathryn Wheatley in Metasville. .Sudie Kennedy visited Joan Lewis in Union Point recently and found her doing well. .Boyce and Pam Hall, Lindley and Avery, hosted an Easter Sunday supper for Norris and Frances Ware of Washington; Dean and Cristi Ware, Charlton and Gracen of Tignall; Jerrick Darricott, Todd and Terri Ware, Brandon, Daniel and Zachary of Monroe; and Josh Callaway. .Lyn Shedd, Ricky Shedd, Garrett Paul, Cody Paul and Ashtyn, Angie Paul, Chad Williams, Tim and Gail Stewart, Alyssa Stewart, Paul and Hannah Wright, and Ava enjoyed Easter Sunday dinner with Johnny and Kathryn Shedd. Millie Mansfieldvisited in the afternoon. Pete Poss also visited Sunday afternoon. .Greg and Angela Armour, Cody and Hunter, Will and Samantha Callaway, Scott and Sissy Smith, Abby and J.T., Richard and Lou Heard, Mattie and Hank, enjoyed Easter Sunday dinner with Buck and Linda Echols. .George and Ann Wideman, James, David and Mathew went to the sunrise service and breakfast at Mallorysville Sunday. Later in the day, George, Ann, James and Mathew went to have dinner at Ivery's in Thomson. Leeman Stewart visited with the Widemans a while Sunday. They had an Ester egg hunt for Mathew. .Troy and Shirley Chafin had a house full of company with family and friends coming for their Easter Sunday supper. Enjoying the occasion were Haley Hill Chafin,Heather Curry, Ryan Arnold, Mack Chafin, Ronnie Chafin and his friend, Racquel, Ken and Sheila Arnold, Terri Nation, Rocky Nation and his friend, Courtney Kitchens, Tangie Chafin and her friend, Eric, Blake, Mandy, and Walker. .Tracy and Denise Armour, Justin, Ethan and Jackson hosted a supper Easter Sunday for Audra Chapman, Taylor Echols, Manuel Wheatley, Talitha Hopkins, Scott Wheatley, Jim and Elaine Wheatley, Jonathan Wheatley, April Smith, Danny and Traci Bussey, Brett and Ashleigh. .Sunday afternoon, Clyde and Sandy Whittington and Fred Weidner had Easter dinner with Neil and Kim Frankel, Zachery, Kyle, and Bryce in Crawford. .Peggy Echols enjoyed Easter Sunday dinner with Sybil Hayes and her family in Stephens. .George and Ann Wideman celebrated their 42nd anniversary Wednesday, March 26. .Bonnie Boatwright had an enjoyable visit with Ruby Arnold Saturday afternoon. Later she visited Ruth Flynt. Ruth was making fudge and she game me some to bring home. It was delicious. .Bonnie Boatwright visited Lamar and Kay Berry Saturday afternoon. Sunday, Bonnie went back to visit and enjoy playing with Kaitlyn and Bryson Porter who were at Grandma and Papa's house with their mother, Brooke Berry. Trey was home and Bonnie just made herself at home and had dinner with all of them. They were going to have an Easter egg hunt for Kaitlyn and Bryson, but Kaitlyn and Bryson wanted to hide the eggs so they did, along with Grandma Kay. Then everyone got in on the hunt. .
