'Fiddler on the Roof' production all set for four performances Tour of Homes weekend
Cast members represent five area counties and age ranges from un-genarian to octagenarians. The music has been enjoyed by countless audiences not only in the play, but at weddings, parties, and various occations since the production first opened on Broadway over forty years ago. Songs like "Sunrise, Sunset," "To Life,L'Chayim!" "Tradition!" and "If I Were A Rich Man" will be rolling through the minds and hearts of patrons for a long time to come after hearing them in this heartwarming production. "Shay Harris and Sherri Bowers have done a marvellous job with the musical score and the cast is just incredible," Coe said. "I just can't believe that in a small town like this, one finds such amazing talent. It's so professional!" a visitor commented while watching a rehersal. "This is good, Stan. This is really, really good," Phil Rothman cammented to the director at a recent rehersal. Rothman has been the onset advisor for Jewish customs and protocol. "We have tried not to just follow the script but also to make sure we represent Jewish customs and ceremony in the right way. And it had been a great learning experience for everyone," Coe said. "I can say without hesitation that people who come to see this play are going to have an unforgettable experience," he added. "The cast has not only worked very hard to make this production the great classic that it is, but these people just fittheir roles so well. It is just a delight to see these characters portrayed so, so ... Yiddishly! You really feel like you've steped back in time to the world Shalom Alecheim wrote about." "One thing the audience misses out on," a cast member said, "is all the fun we have in making this come together." "The rehersals are a show in themselves," said Jameson Graves, who plays a Russian Cossack Dancer as well as performing in the classic "Bottle Dance" number. Angelyn Price, assistant director commented, "It is just amazing to see how this has all come together in a relatively short amount of time to prepare for such a huge production. But it is going to be great. This cast is such a pleasure to work with, and they're full of surprises at rehearsal."
