A close call at Slaton's Crossing
Two drivers thought they had a green light, and they may have been right. Both the driver of this Honda, being extricated from her car by Washington Fire Department's Rescue 1 crew, and the driver of the semi truck that sideswiped her, told Washington Police that they had a green light at the intersection of East Robert Toombs and Highway 78 Bypass. The truck driver was able to swerve into empty oncoming lanes and hit the Honda more gently on the front fender and door, possibly saving her from serious injury. The driver was transported to Wills Memorial Hospital for treatment.
