Frances Wheelis WOM group meets at Madden home Apr. 7

Nancy Madden was hostess for the meeting of the Frances Wheelis Women on Mission of the First Baptist Church at her home on the Thomson Road Monday evening, April 7.

Melanie Wells, facilitator, presided and opened with prayer. All recited the WMU Watchword. All welcomed Linda Echols back after an extended absence.

During the business meeting reports were given and announcements of upcoming events were made. Members were reminded of the On Mission Celebration in late April.

Kay Nelms and Rosemary Hopkins reported on mission action plans that were completed for April and made for May.

Cheryl Edwards presented the program on missions and members gathered in small groups to plan a mission project that would be of interest to them. These were shared with others. Mrs. Edwards closed her program with prayer.

The missionary prayer was led by Teresa Bishop who read from 1 Peter and focused on work in North Africa and the Middle East. After missionaries' names were read and those with special needs in the community named, Mrs. Bishop closed in prayer.

Mrs. Madden served delicious Red Velvet cake, nuts, cheese straws and beverages during a time of fellowship.

Present with Mrs. Madden were Linda Echols, Gail Hunter, Julia Palmer, Kay Nelms, Rosemary Hopkins, Elizabeth Pope, Melanie Wells, Sue Lance, Pat Thornton, Susan Pope, Louise McClearen and Teresa Bishop.
