Season's first tractor pull is Saturday at Aonia

The first big pull of the season will bring back the sounds of thunder to the Wilkes County Young Farmer Truck and Tractor Pull this Saturday, April 12, at the facility off Highway 78 at Big Cedar Road in Aonia.

The tractor pull has a new web site: www.TheWTTP.com, said organizer Eric Holton. "We're expecting 175 to 200 hooks in 49 classes Saturday, with a lot of local people bringing their tractors and trucks. It's going to be good."

Admission for the pull is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 to 6. There is no charge for children under six. A pedal tractor race for kids six and under will be held after the antique classes finish in the afternoon. "Bring your own pedal tractor and compete," Holton said.

Antique Tractor class sign-up runs from 12:00 until 1:45 p.m., with sign-up for Hot Farm, Modern Farm, and Truck classes from 4:30 until 5:30 p.m. A drivers meeting will be held at 1:45 for Antique pullers and at 5:45 for all others.

Antique classes run from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., with signup opening at noon. Hot Farm, Modern Farm, and Truck sign up is set from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 and competition goes from 6 p.m. until it's over.

There is a $10 charge per hook. A complete copy of the regulations is available at www.TheWTTP. com or by contacting Holton at 706-678-4044.
