Dana Kibbey presents program at Woman's Club meeting Apr. 14
Ashley Barnett introduced Mrs. Kibbey who spoke on the new Retro Cinema and Books that she and her husband, Richard, have recently opened on Spring Street. She related how they spent time looking around Georgia for a new residence and how they fell in love with Washington and the genuine friendliness of the people. Retro Cinema and Books is a 60-seat theater and book store that copies a design of a similar setting in Beverly Hills, Calif. The bookstore features all types of books and CDs and what is not found in stock, can be ordered with a quick delivery. The theater will have weekend movies, features a concession stand, and plans are in the works to have a dinner-movie club. Prior to her presentation Vivian Walker presided. She welcomed guests, Kathryn Anderson and Peggy Witt. Paula Butts offered a devotional about living today. After the luncheon and program, a short business meeting was held. The Tour de Georgia was announced for April 23 with festivities beginning on The Square with a band performance at 8 p.m. the night before. Wanda White presented the nominating committee report with new officersbeing voted upon as Vivian Walker, president; Melissa Grant, first vice-president, membership; Dean Mansfield,second vice-president, hostess; Paula Suggs, third vice-president, program; Mary McPherson, secretary; Amy Johnston, treasurer; Susan Branan, parliamentarian; and Alice Lindsey, chaplain. Amy Johnston gave a Tour of Homes report and Cheryl Bentley gave the Tour luncheon report.
Hostesses for the luncheon meeting were Oleta McAvoy and Dackie Callaway.
