W-W Garden Club hears program on 'A Time to Plant'

The Washington-Wilkes Garden Club met Thursday, April 10, at the North Wilkes Library in Tignall.

Mary Webster presided and welcomed Sherri Bowers as a new member. Mrs. Webster also led the Pledge to the Flag.

It was noted that the daisy was the flower of the month.

A special love offering was taken.

Louise Harper offered a prayer for peace.

"A Time to Plant" was the title of the program presented by Linda Burns. She talked about mulching, the blackberry winter, proper procedures to the area prior to planting and how to control cutworms when planting.

Becky Dixon and Mrs. Burns served delicious refreshments during a time of fellowship.

Genevieve Thurmond and Elaine Boiter will serve as hostesses for the May meeting at the North Wilkes Library.

Present for the meeting were Mary Webster, Louise Harper, Edna Lamar, Linda Burns, Becky Dixon, Elizabeth Smith, Elaine Boiter, Sara Frances Henderson, Pat Mack, Sherri Bowers and Mabel Johnson.
