Tigers trying to hold onto second place as season end approaches

Hunter Jackson got the win in his first varsity start of the season as the Tigers beat Greene County 10-1 last Friday.
Moving into the final week of the regular season, the Washington- Wilkes Tiger baseball team is bound up in a tie for second place in Re- gion 8AA South with Oglethorpe County. As the teams entered midweek games on Wednesday, both the Tigers and Patriots were at 8-5 in region play behind the uncatchable North Oconee at 12-0. Morgan County, who has beaten W-W twice, was in third place.

The outlook for that Wednesday game wasn't too good for the Tigers however, since they were playing N. Oconee at their place. Results were not available by press time for this issue.

Today, April 17, the Tigers return home to settle the score with the Oglethorpe County Patriots and then next Friday, April 25, the first round of the Region 8AA tournament begins.

Last Friday, April 11, the Tigers beat Greene County 10-1. Hunter Jackson pitched four scoreless innings for his first win of the year. Kelley Roberts pitched the final three innings.

Jerrick Darracott is all smiles as he approaches third base on his first round-tripper of the season.
Jerrick Darracott hit his first home run of the year for the Tigers.

On Tuesday, April 22, the Tigers will travel to Lincoln County for a make-up game starting at 5 p.m.
