Rodrigues dominates action for Oconee Co. tennis team

Kirstin Rodrigues, a member of the Oconee County High School girls tennis team, dominated play for the Lady Warriors last week by winning two singles matches without dropping a single game. As a result of these wins and outstanding play for the season, Kirstin was named The Core/Oconee Enterprise female athlete of the week.

Kirstin is the granddaughter of James and Elizabeth Denard of Washington and of Mr. and Mrs. George Rodrigues of Satellite Beach, Fla., former Wilkes County residents. She is the daughter of Vicki and John Rodrigues of Watkinsville.

Dan Gruetter, Oconee County tennis director, says that Kirstin is very coachable, and a very focused athlete, and a leader on the team..

Kirsten has beaten opponents from Apalachee and Heritage, 6-0, 6-0, and as a member of the doubles team beat Monroe Area 6-1, 6-0.

As a freshman, Kirstin played on the state champion tennis team and has started every match during her sophomore and junior years.
