Aspiring authors may participate in Wilkes book

Have you ever dreamed of writing your own book? If you live in or have roots in Wilkes County, your dream can come true. At least, by participating in the forthcoming book, The Heritage of Wilkes County, Georgia - 2009, you can help to write a book. Each resident, former resident, or person with roots in Wilkes County is invited to submit a free 500-word family story and picture for the new book.

Included in the hardbound, collector's edition book will be stories of Wilkes County clubs, churches, schools, and communities. The new book will be printed in 2009. It will be one of a series of more than 30 Georgia county heritage books already published, including Elbert, Morgan, and Rockdale Counties.

There will be a special public meeting on Monday, April 28, to discuss the book. The meeting will be held at noon at the Sandwich Shop on The Square. Everyone is welcome to attend.

To learn more about the new Wilkes County heritage book, call 706-678-2105 or (toll free) 877-264-3748.
