Wesley Pope treated to pirate birthday party

Wesley Duncan Pope, son of Susan and Edward Pope III, celebrated his fifth birthday on April 21.

Wesley was treated by his parents to a pirate party Saturday afternoon, April 19, at Bell Cottage of the First United Methodist Church.

Pirate ball decorated the gate to the back yard where the children enjoyed playing on the Ark and jumping in the large inflatedcastle.

The children enjoyed bursting the pirate piñata filled with candy.

Wesley's cake was a pirate ship that was enjoyed with chocolate and vanilla ice cream, Cheetos, chips, and assorted beverages.

Favors were bags of candy from the piñata.

Celebrating with Wesley were classmates from Briarwood Academy, also Mark Bryngelson, Isabelle Blakey, his uncle, aunt and cousins, John, Katherine, Anna and Caroline Gentry of Athens, and grandparents, Raymond and Nancy Duncan of Travelers Rest, S.C., and Edward and Susan Pope of Washington.

On his birthday Wesley shared cupcakes, Cheetos and drinks with his classmates at Briarwood Academy and that evening enjoyed a birthday supper with his parents and grandparents, Edward and Susan Pope, at his grandparents' home on Spring Street.
