By CAROLYN GAMMON Please call 706-285-2736

"A friend is a person who knows all about you and still loves you just the same." "Real friends don't care if your socks don't match," but I know some of my friends would be sure and tell me if they don't match. Some old school friends (I shouldn't have said old) got together Friday at the home of Carolyn Gammon. Other than Carolyn they were Carolyn Heard Snider of Martinez; Marjorie Sale Gibson of Dallas; and Nancy Arrington Hilley. Carolyn Heard Snider and Carolyn Dunaway Gammon were always called the two Carolyns. After doing lots of catching up on health, grandchildren, and on who looks really old, they went to Washington, had lunch, and visited all the shops around town. What a fun day! ƒThe frog activity at the North Wilkes Library was enjoyed by fivechildren. They had a story, poems, a song, learned a little about frogs, and had fun making frog puppets. They all left with little frog souvenirs. Next Saturday, April 26, Carolyn Gammon will be doing a little activity with a new book, Mind Your Manners, B.B. Wolf . She's thinking manners are almost a lost cause, but she thinks it needs to be revived. The kids will even learn how to set the table. Bring your children by the library at 2:30 Saturday for some reading fun. ƒVisiting with Vivian and Louie Wolozin Saturday afternoon were Dale and Kathy Robertson of Winder. ƒBecky Dixon spent Saturday in Evans with Cliffy, Gwinn, and Jenny Ware. ƒSpending Friday and Saturday with Mary Ann Williams was Margaret Simmons of Baldwin. ƒMary Ann Williams and Peggy Ware spent Tuesday, April 15, visiting their sister, Sara Grimes, in Elberton. ƒSaturday, Carolyn Gammon attended a meeting of the Alpha Theta chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma at the Crawford Baptist church. Wilkes County's own Judy Coxwell was installed as the new president for the next biennium. ƒIt's almost time for the Vacation Bible Schools to start. Bible School at Tignall Baptist Church will be the third week in June and Beulah Baptist Church will hold their Bible School on the fourth week in June. When you findout the time of your Bible School, let me know. ƒRevival services at Tignall Baptist Church will be June 1-4. Rev. Charles Drummond will be bringing the messages and Rev. Andy Perryman will be leading in the music. Rev. Drummond is the resource consultant for this area and was in the Marines with Rev. Dale Fincher, pastor of the Tignall Baptist Church. Rev. Perryman is the Director of Missions for the Georgia Baptist Association. ƒAlex and Kay Tyler attended the piano recital of their grandsons, Jordan and Caleb Tyler, that took place at a Presbyterian church in Commerce. There were 15 contestants participating. ƒJosh and Lacey Fincher took Jade to her first rodeo in Elberton Sunday. She was excited about getting a pink cowboy hat. I hope they take a picture of her in that hat. ƒPat Mack's grandson, Austin Mack of Elberton, spent the weekend with her. Her other grandchildren, J.T. and Mary Katherine Mack, spent Sunday afternoon with her. ƒLast week, Andrew and Pat Grimaud and her sister and husband, Runnette and Jackie Smith of Harlem, toured fivestates -- Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. They toured Outer Banks, North Carolina, and took two ferries to see the lighthouse at Cape Hatteras. They went through the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, parts of Gettysburg; the Natural Bridge in Virginia; Luray Caverns in Virginia; Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and visited the beautiful Amish countryside. Between stops they did a lot of antique shopping. They traveled and saw a lot in just one week. ƒDaisy Parker and Esther Dawson went to Greensboro Saturday to a car show and festival. They met Jen and Patrick Hammonds there with their son, Jeremy. Jeremy came home with Daisy and is spending his spring break here with her this week. I met Jeremy Saturday afternoon while walking and he is one of the most polite boys I have ever met, so I know Daisy will enjoy having him here this week.
