Philomath Presbyterian Church restoration committee plans a spring fundraiser on Saturday, May 3, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. They will have barbecued chicken or pork plates for $7.00 each. The plates will be sold at the home of John and Sue Ellen Buckman, 2362 Crawfordville Road and will be eat-in or takeout. You may call the Buckman home at 706-274-3930 for more information. They have recently put in new windows and now are getting ready to work on the inside. Your input will be greatly appreciated. ƒCarter's Grove Baptist Church plans its annual homecoming day on Sunday, May 18, with a meal of barbecue and covered dish items. Rev. Brian George is pastor. They also have new windows. Looks nice. ƒBelated happy birthday wishes to Martha Beth Rice Flanigan of Hephzibah Baptist Church, Lincolnton, and Corrie Maxwell of Phillips Mill Baptist Church. Both grew up at Phillips Mill and celebrated their birthdays on Tuesday, April 15. Martha was 70 and Corrie, 74. Both are special to many. ƒHappy birthday to two special ladies at Phillips Mill Baptist Church. Mrs. Hazel King Combs will be 89 on Saturday, April 26; and Mrs. Mabel Chafin West will be 96 on Sunday, April 27. ƒThanks to Henry and Faye Sisson McAvoy for the pretty flowers Sunday at Phillips Mill. ƒDon't forget, everyone is invited to a drop-in miscellaneous bridal shower for Robyn Williams, brideelect of Donald Gunter, on Saturday, April 26, from 2 until 3:30 p.m. in the Phillips Mill Baptist Church fellowship hall, given by ladies of the church. ƒCloyd and Brenda Denard, their son Donald, and two of his sons visited one Saturday recently with their mother and grandmother, Mary Nell Taylor Denard. ƒPhillips Mill Baptist WMU and deacons will meet Tuesday night a 7 p.m. A fellowship supper will be at 6:30 p.m. ƒGloria Hardy visited Dan and Mildred McAvoy and Jerry on Saturday. The children have been good to come during the week and carry Mildred to Augusta for treatments. The family appreciates your loving concern and prayers. ƒSunday, the McAvoys received a call from their sister-in-law, Nell Rucker (Mrs. Robert) McAvoy of Austell, saying that her sister Vickie had passed away. The Ruckers grew up on Happy Hollow Road near Marvin and Oleta McAvoy. Sympathy is extended. ƒSincere sympathy is extended to the family of Frances Nunn Harris, 83, who passed away recently. She was a daughter of the late Crawford Nunn and Nannie Lou Lunceford Nunn of Sandy Cross in Taliaferro County near Crawfordville, a first cousin of Mildred Nunn McAvoy and Warren Nunn. ƒPriscilla Maxwell had a good report from her heart doctor in Athens Friday morning. Friday afternoon I had arteries checked out at Athens Medical Center. I will hear the results this week, hopefully. Thanks for all your prayers and loving concern. ƒRemember. God loves you.
