Katie Grant honored at bridal shower

Katie Grant, bride-elect of Ryan Warren of Stephenville, Tex., was guest of honor at a miscellaneous shower given by Melody Miller, Lynn Deisher, Sylvia King and Nancy Allen of Stephenville, Becky Williams of The Woodlands, Tex., and Janie Barnes of Dublin, Tex., in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church in Stephenville.

Miss Grant was lovely in a black wool fitted dress fashioned with a princess neckline and complemented with pearl accessories.

White cloths covered the tables decorated as a tribute to the brideelect's home state of Georgia with large vases of pecans and peaches with large branches of magnolias and blossoms brimming from the top. In keeping with the bride-elect's chosen colors of brown and blue for the wedding, the hostesses decorated with chocolate butterflies in brown and blue at different points on the serving tables.

Party foods included pastry shells of assorted fruits, chicken salad party sandwiches, chocolate-covered pecans, dainty cinnamon rolls, zucchini bread, chocolate cakes decorated with blue bows and a large buttercream iced cake with the prospective couple's initials. The focal point of one of these tables was a "chocolate" bag turned on its side with strawberries and fruit dip spilling out. Chocolate butterflies with blue wings were atop the bag. Coffee from a silver urn and punch from a crystal punch bowl were also served.

Miss Grant was presented a comforter set and blanket by her hostesses. They also presented each guest a candy bar with a special wrapper featuring a picture of the couple on the night they were engaged and a Bible verse.

Over 100 guests attended. Special guests attending included the brideelect's mother, Melissa Grant of Washington; the prospective bridegroom's mother, Rosa Warren of Stephenville; also his grandmother, Viola Dowdy of Granbury, Tex., and aunts, Darlene Mitchum and Charlene Martin, also of Granbury, and Rita Wade of Mineral Wells, Tex.
