Thanks for community support for Prom 2008

TO THE EDITOR:

THANKS to the most supportive community in the world!

W-W's 2008 prom, A Midnight Masquerade, was a huge success due to the generous support of parents and many of our community members. We also have WONDERFUL young people. Prom 2008 is proof that when we all work together, we can make great things happen.

Mayor Burns, Blake Thompson, Carol McTier, Petal Pushers, W-W Chamber of Commerce, Colonial Builders, Fareway Building Supply, W-W 4-H, parents, and teachers supplied the materials and decorations. Carol McTier and Ed Franklin also shared their creative ideas and time. Deb Talley and Washington Events Management were VERY cooperative and easy to work with.

The juniors on the prom committee worked diligently all year long. Starting in the fall, the juniors sold class shirts for their fundraiser. In January the prom students volunteered to serve on the prom committee and the planning began. The group split into committees to divide up the work in February.

The committees carried out their plans in March and April working after school, on weekends, and holidays to get everything done. Various parents and community members were working with them every step of the way. No one ever told us no! The support was heartwarming. A huge crowd came to the "senior walk." It was an incredible experience to share celebrating our seniors with such a big crowd.

The students and staff of WWCHS really appreciate our parents and our community. We feel privileged to be a part of such a special place.
