Thanks to Robbie and Ronda Newsome for the pretty flowers placed in Phillips Mill Baptist Church Sunday, April 27. They were given in loving memory of her mother, Rachel Fain, and his father, Billy Newsome. ƒPhillips Mill Baptist Church felt honored to have Tamara Wood, International missionary from West Africa, to speak Sunday morning, and Rev. Norman Waldrip of Greensboro to speak Sunday night. ƒComing up this Sunday, May 4, Phillips Mill Baptist Church plans to have a baccalaureate service and churchwide covered dish lunch. Everyone is invited. Baptism is also planned for Sunday, May 4. On Mother's Day, May 11, a baby dedication service is planned. ƒ Please keep in mind the big barbecue to be held in downtown Philomath this Saturday, May 3, at the home of John and Sue Ellen Buckman, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is a special fund raiser to do more work on the historic Presbyterian Church. Barbecued chicken and barbecued pork plates are $7 each. Eat in or take out. They have a special building to eat in behind their pretty twostory house at 2362 Crawfordville Rd. on Hwy. 22 between Lexington and Carter's Grove. ƒMrs. Hazel King Combs had a nice 89th birthday Saturday, April 26, receiving lots of pretty cards and sweet phone calls along with family members in and out. Among her visitors were Scarlet Botner, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dearing Combs of he Atlanta area. Scarlet's sister Susan visited a while back. Everyone at Phillips Mill Baptist Church is glad Hazel and Eddie have been able to be back at church after being burned in a house fire. ƒMrs. Mabel Chafin West turned 96 years old on Sunday, April 27. She was treated to a nice outing by getting to have lunch with son Marion and his wife Joyce and their family, including Shelton West and children, Fallon and Noah, and Tommy West and his wife Karen. They were all glad to have Marion's sister, Shirley Goldman, and her grandson Zackley Goldman, of Thomson to join them for the day. ƒRecent visitors of Morrison and Priscilla Maxwell besides the children in and out have been Dean Mc- Donald, Corrie Maxwell, and Bes Moore. Priscilla is looking forward to attending Carter's Grove Baptist Church homecoming the third Sunday in May. Your prayers and loving concern are greatly appreciated. ƒEmory Jordan "Pete" Moore is home after recent surgery in an Augusta hospital where they put a stint in his heart and one in one of his kidneys. He is in good spirits. Hopefully his health will be better soon. They appreciate your prayers and loving concern. His wife, Mary Lucy, also has health problems. ƒRemember. God loves you.
