Wilsbary's book, bake and plant sale set for Mary Willis library on Friday

The annual Wilsbary's book, bake, and plant sale sponsored by Friends of the Mary Willis Library is set for Friday, May 2. The sale will open at 10 a.m. on the lawn of the library at 204 East Liberty Street.

Books for sale will include a wide choice of non-fiction and fiction in hardcover and paperback, both old a new, at bargain prices. Book donations are now being accepted and may be dropped off at the main desk of the library any time before the end of April. Drop-off assistance is available at the library every Thursday.

A wide variety of plants donated by local gardeners will also be available for purchase. These go fast, so shoppers will want to get there soon after the sale opens.

Anyone who would like to donate plants may contact the library or bring them to the library by 9 a.m. on May 2.

Baked goods prepared by talented Wilkes County cooks will also be available and always disappear quickly. Cakes, pies, cookies, candy, and cheese straws, and more will be waiting. Donations of food are welcome, too. Anyone who can help should contact the library or any member of Friends.

The name "Wilsbary," coined from a clever combination of Willis and Library, refers to the library's mounted moose head, named in 1994 by Elissa Riley.
