April Smith, Jonathan Wheatley honored at lawn, garden shower

Engaged couple April Smith and Jonathan Wheatley were guests of honor at a lawn and garden shower Friday evening, April 11, at the home of Tracy and Denise Armour in Rayle.

Co-hosts with the Armours were Angie and Scott Wheatley of Homer, Traci and Danny Bussey of Lincolnton and their families. Audra Chapman also assisted the hosts.

Casual attire was the dress for the evening and the bride-elect sported a black knit top over jeans. She was presented a corsage of daisies, statice and Viking palms accented with a miniature pitchfork. Mr. Wheatley was presented a boutonniere of daisies.

The party area was festively decorated. As guests arrived, they registered on a page from the brideelect's keepsake scrapbook. On the table with the register was a tin watering can filled with daisies, hydrangeas, miniature sunflowersand statice. Gardening tools also accented the table sided with a large Boston fern.

The buffet, covered in white as was the register table, was accented with galvanized buckets lined with bandanas and filled with assorted chips, crackers and Fritos to enjoy with Mexican dip, spinach dip, crab dip, loaded baked potato dip and cheese ball. Also on the table were meatballs, chicken salad in tart shells, L'il Smokies in barbecue sauce, open face sandwiches, fresh fruits with dip, fresh vegetables with Ranch dressing, toasted pecans, mints and spiral roll-ups. Guests also enjoyed beverages and bottle water from the galvanized tub in addition to tea and lemonade.

White cloths covered guests' tables and were accented with bandana squares cornered with miniature clay pot votives and centered with denim blue overall holders filled with daisies, miniature sunflowers,blue hydrangeas and white statice.

The couple was presented a wheelbarrow from the hosts. Other gifts were displayed on white clothcovered tables placed under the white tent. Ferns on wrought iron shepherd hooks accented the area.

Seventy guests attended.
