Barney Downer and James and Peggy Varnadoe of Griffin enjoyed the weekend with Betty Slaton. All attended the Johnson reunion at Pope's Chapel Saturday. l Pat and Ellis Thornton, Michael and Kelli Tillman and son, Coley, and Betty Thornton were in Commerce Sunday to visit Chris and Jan Thornton, Ella, Walker and Brooks, and to attend Chris Thornton's baptism at First Baptist Church in Commerce. The family enjoyed dinner after the service. l Susan and Edward Pope Jr. joined their children and grandchildren, John, Katherine, Anna and Caroline Gentry of Athens, in attending "The Lion King" at the Civic Center in Atlanta Saturday afternoon.
