George Washington once said, "The greatest teacher I ever had was my mother." Then there is an old Hebrew proverb, "God could not be everywhere, so he invented mothers." Most of the time one doesn't have to say a word, because Mother can read your minds! I remember when I was teaching, this little boy came in and said, "Everyone on my bus gets three spankings a day because our mamas say we are guilty of something every day!" You don't have to be told to remember your mom on Mother's Day! ƒ There was a mother/daughter banquet held Saturday night at the Heritage Baptist Church. Mrs. Dodson, a missionary to Brazil, was the guest speaker. The men of the church cooked and served 27 ladies. I asked where Heritage Baptist Church is located and was told that it was Wilkes County Baptist and the name has been changed to Heritage. ƒLast Friday, Becky Dixon met her sister, Cliffy Ware of Evans, for lunch at White Columns in Thomson. ƒSpending the weekend with Ralph and Mary Will Denard were their grandchildren, Coty and Jesse Denard and Kaitlyn Denard of Elberton.
