Brady Farm named in Ga. stewardship award recognition

HARTSEL BRADY
The Brady Farm owned by Hartsel and David Brady on the Pecan Grove Road in Wilkes County has received the Georgia Forestry Commission's Forest Stewardship Award and obtained Forest Steward recognition.

The 173-acre farm has been managed under Georgia's Forest Stewardship Program since 2005. The program provides landowners with a comprehensive management plan intended to guide their efforts in the management of timber, wildlife, soil and water conservation, recreation and aesthetic appeal of the property.

"The Bradys have properly implemented many recommendations set forth in the plan, making their farm eligible for this prestigious Certified Steward Award," says Senior Forester Keith Murphy with the Georgia Forestry Commission.

Approximately 6,000 forest landowners in Georgia have a Forest Stewardship Plan and are eligible for Certified Steward recognition. The Brady Farm becomes the 259th property to achieve the prestigious status.
