Washington Personal Mention Boots and Shirley Gunter joined Bill, Allison, Emmeline and Isabelle Hale on Sunday for Children's Sunday at the Athens First Baptist Church. Isabelle is a member of the Joyful Singers Choir which sang several numbers in the service. In the afternoon, the group enjoyed "Artscape" at Athens Academy in which both Emmeline and Isabelle had exhibits. l Ron and Sandy Townsend of Atlanta visited Sunday with Chris and Tara Townsend and brought grandchildren, Garston and Henry Townsend, home after a weekend visit. l Bonnie Allison and Renee Brown have returned home from a ten-day trip to Shanghai, China. The travelers enjoyed the direct 16-hour Delta flight from Atlanta to Shanghai aboard the new and "more comfortable" flagship Boeing 777 airliner. l Barbara Wolter enjoyed the weekend in Vidalia with Bruce, Lynn and Alexis Gioia and Jarrett Truitt. On Saturday she attended Alexis's dance recital with the Savannah Conservatory of Dance and on Sunday attended a special graduate recognition and luncheon at the First United Methodist Church of Vidalia in which Jarrett was honored as a 2008 graduate of Vidalia High School. l
Among those attending the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine Commencement when Elizabeth Newsome received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree Saturday were Mrs. Faye Maloney of Doraville; Floy and Barbara Jumper of Buford; Sparky and Mary Newsome, Molly Newsome, Daniel Newsome, Smythe and Jane Newsome, and Jo and Buzzy Randall, all of Washington; Justin Holmes and Taylor Lindsey of Athens, and Don Taylor of Atlanta. A special dinner and celebration for Lizzie was held at the Hilltop Grill in Athens following the commencement.
