Phillips Mill Baptist honors moms, dedicates babies for Mothers Day

It was a nice day at Phillips Mill Baptist Church on Mother's Day. Good singing and love were shown. Among the hymns sung were "Would You Bless Our Homes and Families" and "God Give Us Christian Homes." The choir special was "Tell Mother I'll Be There."

Pastor Robert Rayner's message for the day came from Proverbs 31:10-30. Before the choir special and message a baby dedication and recognition of mothers was held. The oldest mother present was Gussie Hardy McAvoy, 93. Youngest present was Leah Riordan. The one with the most children present was Beth Hamrick with three present. This year the mother who had been a member of Phillips Mill the longest was recognized. She was Mary McAvoy Howard Hawes in her 80s. There were carnations in the foyer for all mothers to carry one home.

There were gorgeous flowers placed at the altar in honor of all mothers and grandmothers, given by Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Byrd. Dean McDonald prayed the intercessory prayer.

Back to the baby dedication. There were two: baby girl Braylin Elizabeth Riordan and baby boy Hayde Joshua Miller. Relatives attending with Braylin Elizabeth were her mother Leah, grandparents, Mark and Bes Moore, and aunt and uncle, Abby and Robert Smith. Relatives attending with Hayde Joshua were his parents, Joshua and Amanda Miller, grandparents, Clary and Cheryl Young, and Ed and Beth Hamrick.

The children were presented a Bible, a certificate, and copy of dedication.

Let us all say a prayer for these young families. All of this is written with love and respect. It is really hard sometimes when you are unable to attend church to try to get the right information all together. Best wishes to all and may God continue to bless each one.
