Orientation can help parents know kids' routines Parents! Are you tired of your teenagers coming home from high school and answering "What did you do today?" with a bored shrug and a firm "Nothing!"? If you'd like to really find out what your child is doing in class each day at W-WCHS, you are invited to the first semester "orientation night" at the high school. At orientation, parents will get to attend every class on their child's schedule not only to meet their teachers and advisors, but to ask questions about their classes, their books, and how to succeed in each course. By attending each class for 15 minutes, parents will find out what their students will be doing this year in all their subjects, including core and electives. Parents may ask their children's advisors about general grade-level concerns, and their teachers about expectations. "This will be an energetic, positive and productive evening where you can solidify the relationship between parent, school and student," Assistant Principal Mark Ward said. "Your participation in your child's education is the largest factor in their success, so we invite you to come walk a day in your child's footsteps!" The schedule for orientation night is as follows: When:Tuesday, August 26 Where: Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School 7:00-7:15 p.m.: meet child's advisor, receive copy of schedule 7:20-7:35 p.m.: Q & A with 1st block teacher 7:40-7:55 p.m.: Q & A with 2nd block teacher 8:00-8:15 p.m.: Q & A with 3rd block teacher
