Frances Wheelis WOM members meet Aug. 4 for annual salad supper

The Frances Wheelis Women on Mission of the First Baptist Church met Monday, August 4, in the home of Kay Nelms on Bryan Drive for their annual salad supper.

Mrs. Nelms was assisted by Melanie Wells and Rosemary Hopkins.

For the covered dish salad supper, tables were festively decorated with colorful mats and linens and centered with roosters in different styles and colors filled with zinnias.

After a welcome by Mrs. Nelms, Teresa Bishop offered an opening prayer and blessing.

Following dinner, the ladies adjourned to the great room for the business meeting and program.

Melanie Wells presided and led the WMU Watchword.

Among the items of business was the planning of several mission action projects.

Mrs. Nelms presented the program, "Seeds for Truth, Honestly and Integrity."

Mrs. Bishop continued with the missionary prayer calendar focusing on work in West Africa and the scripture, Galatians 6:7. After names of missionaries were given and those with special needs remembered, Mrs. Bishop closed in prayer.

Members enjoyed dessert of strawberry trifle and cheese straws.

Present for the meeting with Mrs. Nelms were Teresa Bishop, Shelby Caddell, Cheryl Edwards, Jackie Gillispie, Pat Grimaud, Rosemary Hopkins, Nancy Madden, Louise McClearen, Julia Palmer, Melanie Wells and Susan Pope.
