Pope's Chapel UMC sets homecoming Sunday, October 5

Historic Pope's Chapel United Methodist Church, located near Broad River in the northern part of Wilkes County, will be having its 52nd annual homecoming day at the church on Sunday, October 5.

The worship service will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will be followed by lunch under the big oak trees. Rev. Brian George of Wilkes County will be the guest speaker for the occasion.

Following the dinner, the afternoon session will be held at 1 p.m., beginning with the hymn, "The Church in the Wildwood." Reports will be given and officers for 2008 will be elected.

All former members, their families, relatives, and friends are encouraged to be present for all of the events of the day.

Pope's Chapel dates back to 1786 when a society was organized and later became Pope's Chapel Church.
