Thanks for 'Love and Care'

TO THE EDITOR:

Christmas is about giving, and I just wanted to express my deepest thanks to everyone who participated in our Operation Love and Care in a Shoebox for all our seniors in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

Again this year, we were so moved by the response of individuals and churches who packed such wonderful boxes. We were able to deliver boxes to Washington Manor by way of Dr. Joe Harris, and to Heritage Health Care Center, Harper's Personal Care, Tignall Assisted Living, CSRA Day Care, and Rayle Assisted Living.

I will not try to name everyone who donated a box, but I do want you to know that the gift you gave, especially this year with the economy being bad, made hearts very glad. It was so touching to help folks open their box and explore all the goodies that were packed inside. They were so appreciative of the effort that showed someone cared for them.

This was our third year of packing shoeboxes and every year we have expanded thanks to you wonderful folks in Wilkes County. Begin collecting now for your boxes next year and we'll be able to reach even more. Again thank you very much for all your "love and care" which you packed so nicely in those boxes.
