• Myrline Thornton joined Tammy Norman and Becky Chalker for a movie in Augusta Saturday
• There was a birthday celebration for Almond Standard on Tuesday of last week at the home of Larry and Pam Pullen. Joining the family for this celebration were Rick and Laura Standard of Hull
• Alex and Kay Tyler joined Greg and Gina Tyler, Jordan, Caleb, and Sydney in Athens where they celebrated the birthdays of Jordan and Sydney. Jordan celebrated his 13th birthday and Sydney celebrated her seventh birthday. It doesn't seem that long ago that I was dancing and singing with Jordan when he was a baby. It kept him happy because he thought I was funny
• Randy and Karen Rhodes, Taylor and Christopher, of Danielsville spent the weekend with William Rhodes. They celebrated Randy's birthday Friday night
• Layton and Gloria Harris went to Abbeville, S.C., Sunday afternoon for the birthday celebration of their granddaughter, Layken Harris, who celebrated her ninth birthday. The celebration was held at the home of Layken's other grandmother, Shirley Blanchard. Several family members and friends attended and enjoye3d ice cream and cake with Layken
• Spending the weekend with Wilbur and Ouida Maney were Ruth Strickland of Jonesboro and Debra Smith and sons, Jelani and Morris of Covington. Tignall Baptist Church was fortunate in having Ruth and Debra sing "In the Garden" for the Sunday morning special song. Everyone enjoyed their beautiful voices
• Carolyn Gammon, Debbie Lindsey, and Pauline Bell attended the funeral of Gordon (Mort) Hill last Thursday in Alamo. There were from 15 to 20 of his golfing buddies from Wilkes County who were honorary pallbearers. Mort was a man who was so full of life that it was such a shock when we heard of his death. We extend sympathy to his wife Janet. Roger and Vivian Walker were going on from Mort's funeral to St. Simon's Island to visit Burgess Walker who is very ill. Burgess grew up in the Danburg area and is a cousin of Roger
• We also extend sympathy to the family of Bob Hall, twin brother of the late Billy Hall. He was buried in Greensboro Saturday
• Let's keep Patsy Epps in our prayers. Her broken shoulder is not healing as it should
• Let's also keep Jackie Waters, wife of Morgan Waters of Buford, in our prayers. Jackie had surgery last week.
• John and Nonie Yochim visited Morgan and Jackie Waters in Buford last Saturday
• Beulah Baptist Church elected Rick Markham as their full time pastor. He has been their interim pastor
• Mallorysville Baptist women are starting a new Bible study called "Stepping Up" by Beth Moore
• Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy some good Christian music on January 24 at 7 p.m. at the Tignall Baptist Church. This entertainment will be provided by Fran Harmon and Darrell Anderson
• Those from Dave VanHart's Sunday School class at Tignall Baptist enjoying supper at Off the Hook were Dave and Tina VanHart, Ronnie and Suzie Futch and Hunter, Graydon and Pat Bobo, Layton and Gloria Harris, Danny and Tammy Price, Ernest and Faye Lamar, Larry and Pam Pullen, Gary and Paula Butts, Benjie and Beth Hodges, and guests, Curtis and Robbie Tanner
• Don't forget to come out to the fun night at the Tignall Lunchroom Saturday night, January 17, at 7 p.m. There will be bingo with some great prizes. While playing bingo enjoy a delicious dessert made by members of the steering committee, and a drink. This will be over by 9 p.m., so you won't be out too late.
