Tim Wright (right) of the Washington Fire Department was the guest speaker at the regular meeting of the Washington Kiwanis Club on Tuesday, January 13. Wright, a 27-year veteran of the Washington Fire Department, gave a program about Home Fire Safety. He stressed the need for adequate smoke alarms in the home, their regular testing, and proper placement - especially the timely replacement of batteries. He told members that smoke alarms should be placed in every bedroom, outside each separate sleeping area, and on every level of the home. In addition, each home should have a fire escape plan and each member should know the plan route of escape in case of fire. George Brooks was the program host for the day.
