Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Shedd honored at 55th anniversary celebration

Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Shedd Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Shedd Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Shedd of Rayle were honored on the occasion of their 55th wedding anniversary at a reception Sunday afternoon, December 21, in the fellowship hall of County Line Baptist Church.

Festivities were hosted by the couple's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Lynn Shedd and Ricky Shedd of Comer, Tim and Gail Stewart, Paul, Hannah and Ava Wright of Rayle, Jeffrey and Alyssa Roth of Salisbury, N.C., Chad and Angie Williams of Lexington, Garrett Paul, Cody Paul and Ashtyn Allen of Carlton, Darryl and Laura Shedd, Michael Orr, and Rodney, Betsy, Mil, Matt and Morgan Shedd of Rayle.

Mr. and Mrs. Shedd were married in McCormick, S.C., on December 19, 1953.

For the reception Mrs. Shedd, the former Kathryn Poss, chose a black sheath and violet printed swing coat. She was presented a corsage of red roses and Christmas greenery accented with gold sprays. Mr. Shedd was presented a red rose boutonniere for the lapel of his navy suit.

Guests were greeted by granddaughters, Cody Paul, Hannah Wright, and Alyssa Roth, and invited to sign the guest book placed on a table covered in lace and decorated with a crystal vase of Christmas greenery and miniature red roses.

Tables in the fellowship hall were draped in white and accented with gold overlays. Centering the refreshment table were two gold cherubs amid Christmas greenery. From the table guests enjoyed a delicious assortment of party foods and champagne punch. Serving punch were Mrs. Shedd's niece and greatniece, Vickie Matthews and Katie of Carlton.

The table holding the beautiful and delicious anniversary cake was draped in white and accented with gold beaded garland and tulle. The butter cream confection featured two base layers in graduated sizes and a top tier set apart from the base layers by four white pedestals. The base layer was accented with the initial "S" all around and the layer atop it featured a basket weave design. Within the pedestals were touches of Christmas greenery amid swirls of gold. Topping the cake were two white doves and a gold cross nestled in touches of gold leaves and Christmas greenery. The cake was made and served by the couple's daughter, Gail Stewart. Also on the table with the cake was a picture of the couple when they first married.

A table dressed as the refreshment table in white and gold featured many pictures of the couple, their children grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Centering this table was a crystal vase of Christmas greenery, red and white carnations and gold sprays.

Approximately 75 guests attended during the afternoon.
