Summer Garrison presents program on Relay for Life

Summer Garrison of Augusta and Woman's Club member Carol Jackson presented the program at the meeting of the Woman's Club Monday, January 12, at the clubhouse.

Paula Suggs, program chairman, introduced the ladies.

Summer Garrison, Relay for Life Senior Community Manager, spoke on the program on the state and national level while Mrs. Jackson spoke on the Relay for Life on the local level. It was noted that Wilkes County raised over $70,000 last year. Also shared were programs available and for those with questions or those that needed assistance should call 1-800-ACS-2345. Also announced was the "Look Good- Feel Good" program to be presented in McDuffie County on February 9.

Prior to the program Vivian Walker, president, presided. She thanked hostesses, Kathy Lannae and Jo Randall, who decorated tables using the color of lavender with all types of Relay for Life pencils, mints, tablets and information concerning the program.

Alice Lindsey offered the devotional, "Count Gains Not Losses," and read two poems. She also led the Pledge to the Flag and the blessing before the luncheon.

During the business meeting after the program, tickets were issued for the annual John Duggan Memorial Scholarship Dinner to be held Monday evening, February 9, at 7 p.m. Tickets may be obtained by calling Vivian Walker or Amy Johnston and are $15 for a single ticket and $30 per couple.

Forty attended the luncheon meeting and included Bonnette Marks, guest of Wanda White.
