Cherry Grove Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate the usher board's anniversary Sunday, January 25, 3 p.m. Guest speaker will be Evangelist Brenda Nunnally.

Wills Memorial Hospital is sponsoring a "Managing Diabetes for Patients and Families" series. The last one will be held January 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the hospital library.

The Wilkes County Board of Health will meet Friday, January 23, at 11 a.m. at the health department on Gordon Street.

The Old School Reunion will meet Saturday, February 24, 12 noon, at the Mary Willis Library,

Mt. Carmel Baptist Church will have a Sunday School workshop Saturday, February 28, from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The coordinator for the workshop will be Valerie Jackson of Augusta.

In celebration of black history month, Eddie and Kay Finnell will present a program on highlights of the "History of Black Education in Wilkes County" at the Robert Toombs House Historic Site, Washington, on February 8. There is no charge for the program which will begin at 2:30 p.m. and conclude at 4 p.m.

Jackson Chapel AME Church, Washington, will have its annual men and women's day program February 1, 2 p.m. Rev. Dennis Quinn and Evangelist Penny Quinn of First Baptist and Mt. Zion Baptist churches will be guest speakers.

New Sutton Temple Baptist Church will have a marriage workshop February 13, 7:30 a.m.

New Springhill Baptist Church at Philomath will have its annual deacons fellowship Sunday, January 25, 2:30 p.m. Pastor Kelvin Daniels and the Bethel Baptist Church of Watkinsville will be the special guests. New Springhill is located at 2491 Crawfordville Road, Philomath.

Black Rock AME Church, Tignall, will have its annual black history program Sunday, February 15, 11 a.m., with Curtis Williams as speaker.

Springfield Baptist Church, 312 Church Street, Washington, will have its usher board anniversary program Sunday, February 8 11:30 a.m. Rev. Norman Williams will deliver the message.

The Washington Lions Club will have barbecued chicken for sale on Saturday, February 21, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Cost is $7.00 per plate. Advance tickets are available from any Lions member or by calling Mary Hubbard or Lisa Drake at 706-678-2422. A limited number of tickets will be sold at the door. New Saints CME Church, 515 Baltimore Road, Washington, will hold the next SNAP meeting Saturday, January 24, at 10 a.m.

The next meeting of the Washington-Wilkes Toastmasters Club will be held at the Mary Willis Library Monday, January 26, 6-7 p.m. Anyone 18 years of age and above is invited to attend.

The Washington Church of God Relay for Life Team will sponsor a hotcake supper at McDonalds February 17, 5:30-7 p.m. Tickets are $5 each and are available from any church member, at McDonalds, or by calling Margie Burke at 706-318-0832.

The Doris Booker Black History Program will be held Sunday, February 15, 4 p.m., at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Baltimore Road, Washington. The public is invited to attend.

Heard's Chapel will have a black history program Saturday, February 21, 3 p.m.

Solomon Pool Deliverance Ministries will have an Evening of Songs on January 31, 5 p.m. There will be different groups and individuals singing praise unto the Lord.

Transforming Life Ministries will sponsor a Baby Dedication Worship Service February 23, 7 p.m., at the Third Shiloh Center. Babies must be at least six weeks old. All babies participating must register by January 23. Call Amethyst Wynn at 706-678-5492 to register.

The Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Junior Choir will celebrate its anniversary on Sunday, February 8, 3 p.m. The guest choirs will be Andrew Chapel of Jonesboro, and Holly Creek of Athens. Dinner will be served.
