Leah Jeanette Riordan and Dennis Gary Burt II exchange wedding vows on Saturday, January 3

Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Gary Burt II Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Gary Burt II Leah Jeanette Riordan and Dennis Gary Burt II, both of Washington, exchanged wedding vows in an impressive double-ring ceremony Saturday, January 3, at three o'clock in the afternoon at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Washington. Dr. Tim Riordan of Griffin, uncle of the bride, officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark A. Moore of Washington and Mr. and Mrs. David W. Riordan of Griffin.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis G. Burt of Washington.

Guests registered in the vestibule which also displayed the couple's engagement picture. In the sanctuary the altar featured two tree candelabra flanked by basket arrangements of all-white snapdragons, stock, cushion chrysanthemums and ferns. Ferns were to the outside of this setting. The unity candle amid a setting of ivory ribbon was also used.

John Moon of Washington, uncle of the bridegroom, and Jimmy Hogan of Augusta, cousin of the bridegroom, lit the candles.

Mrs. Steve Young of Newport, Ky., aunt of the bride, pianist and flutist; uncle of the bride, Dan Riordan of Cairo, violinist; and Timothy Riordan of Griffin, cousin of the bride, cellist, presented the wedding music.

During the unity candle lighting ceremony, Mrs. Tim Riordan of Griffin, aunt of the bride, sang "There is Love" and Mrs. Byron Gelderman of Waynesboro gave the scripture reading from 1 Corinthians 13.

Mr. Burt was his son's best man. Usher-groomsmen were John Moon and Jimmy Hogan. All the men were attired in black tuxedos with grey vests and ties while the bridegroom and ring bearer, Samuel Moon of Washington, cousin of the bridegroom, were attired in matching tuxedoes and vests with striped ties.

Mrs. Abby Riordan Smith of North Augusta, S.C., served her sister as matron of honor. Her fulllength marine blue gown featured a shirred bodice and V-neckline.

Bridesmaids were Mrs. Dustin Reed of Birmingham, Ala., cousin of the bride, and Ashley Burt of Washington, sister of the bridegroom. Their A-line marine blue gowns were fashioned with spaghetti straps and shirred elongated bodices that draped to one side.

All the attendants carried nosegays of champagne roses, fern and blueberries.

The bride's sister, Rebekah Riordan of Griffin, was flower girl. She wore a white dress with spaghetti straps that was also highlighted with marine blue banding at the waist and hemline. She carried a white basket of champagne rose petals.

Given in marriage by Mr. and Mrs. Mark Moore and Mr. and Mrs. David W. Riordan, the bride was radiant in her white gown fashioned with beaded marine blue banding across the strapless upper bodice. This banding continued down the back to a complete marine blue train and also banded the entire hemline.

Her veil, enhanced in appliquéd embroidered flowers and silver accents, was edged in marine blue satin.

She carried an abbreviated cascade of blue delphinium and asters, ivory roses and stock, silver filigree leaves and accents tied with silver sheer ribbon with satin ribbon inserts.

For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Moore chose a long marine blue Michaelangelo satin gown and jacket.

Mrs. Burt, the bridegroom's mother, chose a taupe mock two-piece sleeveless bodice and flowing skirt finished with a sheer shawl adorned with rows of beadwork.

Each had a corsage of champagne roses.

The bride's grandmother, Mrs. Milton Broome of Washington, wore a turquoise two-piece tealength ensemble. Her grandmother, Mrs. Jerry Riordan of Griffin, wore a navy blue tea-length dress.

The bridegroom's grandmother, Mrs. Joan Moon of Washington, chose a black two-piece long dress. His grandmother, Mrs. Mary Burt of Washington, wore a multi-colored sparkle top over a black flowing skirt. His great-grandmother, Mrs. Mae Moon of Greensboro, chose a two-piece street-length dress.

All were presented corsages of white roses.

Grandfathers of the bride, Milton Broome of Washington and Jerry Riordan of Griffin, and bridegroom, Ernest Moon, also of Washington, were presented champagne rose boutonnieres.

Mrs. Mark Waters of Washington directed the wedding.

Reception

Mr. and Mrs. Mark Moore entertained at a reception in the church fellowship hall following the ceremony.

Guests viewed the bridal portrait as they entered.

White cloths were used throughout.

The bride's table held the allwhite confection composed of two base layers and a top tier with columns between. Hearts and wedding bells topped the cake served by Mrs. Chris Sanders of Lincolnton and Mrs. Stewart Thomas of Eatonton. Bouquets of the bride and her attendants decorated the table.

The bridegroom's Red Velvet cake was served by Mrs. Benji McAvoy of Washington.

Centering the buffet was a silver trumpet vase that included pastel Gerber daisies, calla lilies, snapdragons and greenery. From the table guests enjoyed cheese straws, pinwheels, fruits, quiche, wings and spinach dip with punch served by Mrs. Mary Jane Scarborough of Washington.

Also assisting in serving were Mrs. Tommy Roberson of Washington and Mrs. Kenneth Byrd of Rayle.

Guest tables were centered with lighted pillars surrounded with ivy.

After the reception, the couple left in their wedding attire.

They are living in Augusta.

Rehearsal Dinner

Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Burt honored Leah Riordan and Gary Burt at a rehearsal dinner in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on Friday evening.

Tables placed in the shape of a cross were covered in white Army- Navy cloths and puddled with white organza and silver overlays. Each held a silver hurricane candleholder tied with marine blue ribbon with silver accents, vases of Eskimo roses and votives. In the center of the cross was a mirror that reflected a placed large silver hurricane.Votives surrounded this setting. Also, votives alternating with small vases of white roses with silver accents were used. A large trumpet vase arrangement adorned the buffet.

Guests enjoyed tossed salad, spaghetti, corn on the cob, garlic bread, cheese cake and banana pudding with tea, water and coffee.

Guests included the wedding party, family and friends.
