Fast food magnate donates books
Beth Jackson, Media Center Specialist, and W-WCHS Principal Steve Echols received three books donated to the school by S. Truett Cathy, founder and CEO of Chick-fil-A. Accompnaying the gift was a letter from Cathy which stated the following. "In recent years the question I have been asked most is, 'How did you do it, Truett?' Two of these books answer that question from the point of view of a successful business while stressing the importance of living by such principles as honesty, hard work, determination, loyalty, and compassion. In other words, despite what today's headlines tell our children, they can succeed in life without compromising their principles. ... You'll see my life-long interest in young people reflected in the third book, It's Better to Build Boys Than Mend Men. "I hope you, your teachers, and especially your students, find lessons and inspiration for life in these books. Thank you so much for allowing me to share them with your school." |
