Town populated by nice, warm, caring people
TO THE EDITOR:
This past Saturday, February 14, a group of girls from the University of South Carolina was involved in a very traumatic car accident in Wilkes County. We wrote a letter expressing our gratitude to the people of Wilkes County who were there for us in our time of need.
To the town of
Washington-Wilkes, Georgia:
We would like to send our deepest thanks and gratitude to all of you that came together and helped comfort each and every one of us this past Saturday. It was one of the most terrifying days of our lives, and all of us feel so fortunate to have come out of such a serious accident without any serious injuries.
Experiences like these really make you step back and realize how truly blessed we all are as individuals. God was looking out for us that day. As citizens of the town of Washington, Ga., each and every one of you should feel privileged knowing your town is populated by such nice, warm, and caring people. It is so interesting to see how such a traumatic experience can quickly reveal the character of the people of a community. The town of Washington came together and comforted each and every one of us showing the caliber of people that live here.
We thank you for all of your generosity and reassuring care. From letting us use your cell phones to cleaning out the car to the very much needed comfort and support you all provided, we are grateful.
To the individuals who also took such great care of us: Ray, the paramedic; Blake, EMT-P Director; Johnnie, the nurse at Wills Memorial Hospital; Officer Turner; and Randy, the orderly at the hospital. We appreciate all of your gracious efforts in making us feel at ease in one of the scariest times of our lives. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
