Turner is top speller in Wilkes County


Milton Turner (left), a Washington-Wilkes Elementary School fourth grader, was declared the winner of the annual Wilkes County Spelling Bee. He had to correct his opponent's misspelled word "rhinoceros" and then spell the word "symbiosis" correctly. Milton will represent Wilkes County in the Annual Augusta Chronicle Spelling Bee on March 7. He will be among a group of winners from eighteen counties in the CSRA. Other top spellers were Joanna Gaskin (right), second place, and Dorian Favors, third place.
