Homeownership is topic of workshop Saturday at library

The next Keys to Homeownership free educational workshop will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Mary Willis Library in Washington.

"We want to invite residents to attend this series of classes," said Barbara Bacon, "to help them better understand how to become homeowners; maintain homes they may already have; improve and maintain good credit; how to avoid predatory scams and to hear about Rural Development, HUD, and DCA programs and services they may be eligible for."

The participants will also learn how to maintain and improve their credit. "Financial fitness is the key to wealth building," Bacon said.

Last year's workshops were attended by a diverse group of residents, Bacon said, "We had single mothers; single fathers; married couples and mothers and daughters, which showed family unity."

These services are sponsored by the City of Washington and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs and are being offered free to the participants.

Contact Kim Evans or Barbara Bacon at 706-678-3277 to sign up or for additional information.
