Lauren Harrison, FBLA member and Matson Keiser, BCS student place a Water Conservation Door Hanger on one of the doors at WWCHS as part of the FBLA PEACH Project. The W-WCHS Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) members and Business and Computer Science (BCS) students have been diligently working to complete the Georgia FBLA state project called the PEACH Project. PEACH is an acronym for Policy, Environment, Action, Credit, and Health.
Students in Computer Applications classes began the project by completing a Policy activity in which the students researched the republican candidate and the democratic candidate for President and completed a document comparing each candidate's policy on business issues. Students in Entrepreneurship and Business Document Processing classes researched proposed business mergers and acquisitions of American companies during American Enterprise Week held at W-WCHS.
Environment activities included a coat drive at W-WCHS in which FBLA members and BCS students recycled 45 coats. These coats were donated to God's Marketplace in Washington. Students in Computer Applications classes researched "Going Green" ideas and presented PowerPoint shows during class.
Action activities included creating PowerPoint shows and presentations encouraging others to conserve water usage. During this project, stu- dents also created door hangers that included water conservation tips. These door hangers are to be placed on teacher's doors throughout the high school. Also, W-W Chamber of Commerce Director Ashley Barnett spoke to BCS students and FBLA members in the fall and included tips on making decisions count.
FBLA members participated in a
Credit activity during the January club meeting in which Todd Snider presented information about retirement funds, savings, investments, and the importance of a good credit score. There was a question and answer session during which students asked Snider questions about the information he presented.
Health and wellness activities included students in Entrepreneurship and Business Essentials courses researching and presenting information about different health care benefits which businesses offer employees. Students in Computer Applications courses researched and presented brochures about health and wellness activities for high school students that promote a healthy lifestyle. A health fair was also held at W-WCHS in the fallwhere many FBLA members were able to participate.
