Wilkes students and advisors visit Capitol for CTSO Day

Governor Sonny Perdue proclaimed Thursday, February 12, as Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) Day at the Georgia State Capital. All CTSO groups were represented at the state capital including Future Farmers of America and Future Business Leaders of America. Wilkes County was represented by Sheena Kopecky, Georgia Area 2 sentinel; her adviser, Nathan Heaton; Jessica Spradlin, Georgia FBLA Region 15 secretary; and her adviser, Tanya Morgan.

The event began with a breakfast at the Georgia Depot across the street from the Georgia State Capital and included state representatives, CTSO officers, CTSO advisers, and other state leaders. The group was addressed by the CTSO state president, Georgia Superintendent of Schools Kathy Cox, Georgia Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle, Georgia Speaker of the House Glenn Richardson.

After the breakfast, CTSO advisers and officers were allowed to tour the State Capital. The event was concluded with a picture of every CTSO officer on the steps inside the Capital.
