Cancer Relief Fund gets help
Representing Beta Sigma Phi, Joan Geddings (right) presents a check for the Cancer Relief Fund to Chairman Bunny Gunby. "The increase in gas prices has led Beta Sigma Phi to budget $4,000 for this year, and that's wonderful," Gunby said, "but more community support is needed." The fund supports many Wilkes County residents who must drive or be driven to Athens, Augusta, or Atlanta for cancer treatments. Churches have been supportive, especially Twin Oaks Baptist, as have businesses and civic clubs, and individuals giving in memory of a loved one, she said. Contributions can be made to Cancer Relief Fund and sent to Gunby at 2090 Thomson Rd., Washington, GA 30673 or to Washington-Wilkes Charities (mark for Cancer Relief Fund) P.O. Box 176 Washington. |
