Kopecky presented academic scholarship at Steer & Heifer Show
Sheena Kopecky Sheena Kopecky was presented the 2009 academic scholarship at the 55th Annual Washington Area Junior Steer and Heifer Show.
Sheena, the daughter of Charles and Rosanne Kopecky, is a member of the Washington-Wilkes FFA and serves as president and Area II Sentinel. She is a senior at Washington Wilkes Comprehensive High School and plans to pursue a degree in Agriculture Education. She has shown steers since the ninth grade and participates in livestock and forestry judging.
"I enjoy showing at each show as if it was my very first show," Kopecky said. "Livestock showing can give what is much needed in life, and that is responsibility and independence."
Each year, the show gives a deserving high school senior the scholarship. All twelfth grade exhibitors are asked to fill out an application, write a brief autobiography explaining why they would be a good investment if they are awarded the scholarship, and write a brief essay answering the question: "How has livestock showing influenced your life?" The applications are then judged by a group of individuals representing the counties participating in the annual show.
