T.J. and Friends golf tourney set for Cateechee on April 25
A two-man Texas Lauderdale golf tournament has been set for April 25 at the Cateechee Golf Club in Hartwell to benefit cancer patients in the seven-county area served by the T.J. and Friends Foundation.
A number of celebrities will participate in the tournament which will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. after registration at 8 a.m. Cost is $190 per team but lunch is not included.
Among the celebrities expected to play are Mike Dooley, offensive coordinator for the Clemson Tigers; Willie Martinez, defensive coordinator for the University of Georgia Bulldogs; Sam Wych, former coach of the San Francisco 49ers; and Billy Shaw, the first Hall of Fame member that played his entire career in the AFL.
There will be door prizes, a longest-drive competition, and a closest-to-the-pin competition. Prize distribution (based on 30 or more teams in three flights) will be $500 for first place, $300 for second place, and $200 for third place in each flight. Men will play from the white tees and women will play from the red tees.
Cateechee is "pure golf in a nature park." There are no houses, no street crossings, and no traffic to spoil the experience of playing this Audubon Signature Course, just named a "Four-Star" destination by Golf Digest.
