Greene County Rodeo this weekend to be held at new Ag Center location

Following in the 45-year tradition of Greene County rodeo, real heartpumping, laugh-inducing action, along with delicious food is coming to Greensboro April 17-18 at the new covered arena at the Greene County Ag Center on C. Weldon Smith Road.

This is your chance to experience the rich American tradition of ranch hands in the wild West competing against each other to see who had the best cowboys," rodeo organizers say.

"We will have the opportunity here in Greensboro to experience this contest of wills - cowboys against bulls, and horses - and contests of speed between cowgirls as they ask their partner horses to run like the wind around three barrels - and much more."

Rodeo action will cover the whole realm of eight exciting events. "Y'all come hear the spurs jingle, and the horses hooves thunder while you chow down on a hotdog, cheeseburger, boiled peanuts, or funnel cakes and wash it all down with a good ole Coca Cola."

Admission is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for children under 12, and kids four and under are admitted free.

The action begins at 8 p.m. both nights.

Young children may participate in the stick horse race and the calf scramble. There is no cost for a child to ride a stick horse down the arena or race off after the calves with ribbons attached to their tails. Parents and children, alike, will take home memories to last a lifetime.

"Making memories does not stop after the rodeo is over. No siree!"

Proceeds from this yearly event will continue working on that goal as it is used to produce three Junior Rodeos during the summer for the youth in the area, and enables the Livestock Association to sponsor of Greene County Relay for Life and Greene County 4-H.
